Getting to Teriberka in winter

In winter a single road leads to Teriberka. In blizzards it is closed and traffic moves in organised convoys behind snow ploughs, so plan your trip with spare time.

Why the road closes

The last stretch to the Barents Sea crosses open terrain where wind quickly drifts snow across the road. In heavy blizzards it is closed for safety. In February 2026, for example, traffic was restricted for several days and cars were led out in convoys.

How to plan

  • Keep a spare day before your flight home.
  • Watch the forecast and road status updates.
  • Book the return transfer in advance: there are few cars in the village.
  • Keep warm clothes in the cabin, not only in your luggage.

Daylight

In December and early January the sun barely rises above the horizon and daylight is very short. Plan to drive most of the way in daylight.

How we work in winter

Our cars are four-wheel drive, on studded tyres in winter. If the road is closed, we contact you and decide together: a new time or a new date.
