How to get from Kirovsk to Teriberka
Teriberka is about 315 km from Kirovsk by road via Murmansk. There is no direct bus, so people drive themselves, join a tour or take a private transfer.
The route
From Kirovsk you go through Apatity to the R-21 Kola highway, north towards Murmansk, then along the Teriberka road to the Barents Sea coast. The last stretch crosses hills and tundra and can be snowed over in winter.
Your own or a rented car
Full freedom, but you need confidence in winter driving: blizzards, ice and short daylight. The car must be prepared for winter.
A day tour
Tour operators run group and private guided trips from Kirovsk to Teriberka. Handy if you want a programme, but the organiser sets the schedule.
A private transfer
No other passengers, and you decide where to stop. A transfer from Kirovsk to Teriberka costs 50,000 RUB per car for up to 4 passengers. For a same-day trip there and back there is a round trip: 75,000 RUB per car plus waiting by the hour.
The way back
There are few cars in Teriberka, so book your return in advance. In winter allow extra time: in a blizzard the road may close for several hours or longer.
